Four Days Until Christmas. Are You Ready?
Four days until Christmas. Are you stressed? Excited? Worn Out? Are you eager for Christmas to get here? Or eager for it to be over?
What was heaven like four days before that first Christmas? Do you ever wonder what the angels were doing? Me neither. At least, not until today.
Today I do wonder what was going on in heaven four days before that first Christmas.
I imagine it crackling with excitement like the wood is crackling in my fireplace. All a-buzz with eager anticipation as the angels watch God lead Joseph and Mary to the place where Jesus would be born.
Angel wings flutter as the angelic host practices their history altering pronouncement.
Simply electric.
Did they wonder how God’s people would receive God’s gift? Would the people be as excited as they were?
God, preparing to the way for his creation to be restored and reconciled to him was a big deal then, and it’s a big deal now.
Despite our preoccupation with the trappings of Christmas, I think heaven is still a-buzz with excitement. Because God is preparing to move. Someone, somewhere will receive the gift of salvation through the Christ child this year.
Let’s join the angels in turning our attention to the manger. Let’s be more excited about God’s gift to humanity than we are about the packages under the tree or what’s out in our driveway. Let’s pray for the person who will receive Jesus for the first time this year as their Savior. Let’s pray for the hearts that will be revived, refreshed, restored this year.
Let’s join our voices with the angels as we proclaim,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests” (Luke 2:14). I am excited for Christmas! Are you?

Love this! You made me think of the birth of our Lord in a new way. What was happening in heaven before His arrival here? What is still happening there? Excitement for those who will receive the gift of salvation. Merry Christmas, Denise!

OMGoodness what a wonderful prayer Ms. Denise. I too have wondered what heaven must have been like as they prepared for Christ to enter the world in human form to redeem it. How must God the Father have felt knowing that in just a short while, His only begotten Son would make the ultimate atonement for our sins. Such a price was needed; and I ask myself if the life I am living is honoring the price Jesus Christ paid for it. I also think of how excited and busy heaven must be as our Christ is preparing to return soon and bring His adopted sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters home for eternity. Are the angels busily putting the finishing touches on “the mansions, just over the hilltops”? Are others working to polish the “streets of gold” in anticipation of our arrival? Is the Holy Spirit helping to make a final tally of everyone to arrive soon? Oh for the joy of that day my friend. I join you in prayer that we bring many more with us on the day ma’am. May God help us to be more effective evangelists for the glory of His gospel in the coming days. God’s blessings and Merry CHRISTmas ma’am.
